They can provide a boost of energy and help support a healthy immune system
Here are all the reasons why everyone should be drinking smoothies regularly.
Smoothies Alkalinize your body
Smoothies are a great way to alkalize your body, which helps to balance the pH levels in your blood and tissues. If you have symptoms of acidity (heartburn, acid reflux, etc.), this is especially important for you. A proper pH balance is essential for many body functions, including digestion and absorption of nutrients.
Energy booster
Smoothies are great for an energy boost. They contain carbohydrates, which break down into glucose in your body and provide energy to keep you going throughout the day. To lose weight, consuming only a few carbohydrates daily is essential since they tend to turn into fat if not burned off quickly enough.
Smoothies can help reduce inflammation in the body
Ease digestion
The fibre content in most fruits and vegetables makes them ideal for easing digestion problems such as constipation or bloating especially if you don’t eat enough plant-based foods in your regular diet. Smoothies can help prevent these issues by delivering nutrients directly into your system without having to chew them first (which is sometimes easier said than done).
Reduce acne breakouts
Fruits and vegetables are packed with antioxidants, which help fight free radicals in the body. These free radicals damage cells and contribute to ageing, but antioxidants prevent this damage from occurring. Studies have shown that people who eat more fruits and vegetables have fewer breakouts than those who don’t consume enough antioxidants.
Boost bone health
Smoothies are rich in calcium and vitamin D, two nutrients essential for healthy bones. Calcium helps build strong bones, while vitamin D helps the body absorb calcium more efficiently. Both nutrients can be found in dairy products such as yoghurt, but they’re also available through other sources such as nuts, seeds, dark leafy greens and fish. The recommended daily intake of calcium is 1,000 milligrams per day for adults 19 years old or older.
Reduce cravings and overeating.
Drinking smoothies for breakfast helps keep you satisfied until lunchtime, which keeps your appetite under control all morning. Smoothies also help fill you up, making you less likely to snack on junk food later in the day.
Smoothies can be a delicious and satisfying way to satisfy cravings while still maintaining a healthy diet
Detoxify your system.
Smoothies are great for detoxifying because they’re high in fibre and water content. Fibre helps cleanse the digestive tract by absorbing toxins as it passes through your body. When combined with water, it also helps flush out toxins from the body by pushing them through the colon walls and into the toilet bowl (or whatever receptacle is designated for such things).
Fight food boredom.
Smoothies can help fight food boredom because they offer a variety of textures and flavours that keep things interesting! The best thing about smoothies is that if you don’t like one ingredient, you can always substitute it with another. This makes it easy to come up with new combinations that will keep your taste buds happy every time!
Summertime is a great time for seasonal fruits, take full advantage of this wonderful time. Strawberries are amazing during the summer months,
Fight inflammation and Prevent Diseases.
Smoothies are a good source of antioxidants, which fight free radicals. Free radicals have been linked to chronic conditions such as heart disease and cancer, so eating more antioxidant-rich foods like smoothies can help reduce your risk of these conditions.
Smoothie ingredients like berries, citrus fruits and leafy greens are loaded with vitamins and minerals that help support your immune system, according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) The vitamins A, C and E found in these foods can boost your body’s ability to fight off infections and help ward off illnesses like the flu.
Prevent diabetes. Smoothies are an easy way to add more fruits and veggies to your diet. Two servings per day are recommended by the American Heart Association (AHA), which can help prevent or delay type 2 diabetes by lowering blood sugar levels, according to the AHA.
Smoothies can be a healthy alternative to processed snacks or sugary drinks
Improve sleep quality.
Sleep is essential for good health, but it’s also extremely difficult for most people to get enough of each night. Smoothies can help you get better sleep by helping you feel more relaxed before bedtime and promoting deeper sleep once you hit the sack. The melatonin in bananas helps regulate your body’s internal clock. In contrast, the magnesium in spinach helps relax tense muscles and reduce stress levels so you can fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer without waking up feeling groggy or tired during the day.
Lose weight quickly and easily.
Green smoothies are a fantastic way to lose weight, especially if you’re trying to shed pounds as fast as possible for an event like a wedding or vacation. The fibre from leafy greens helps keep you full throughout the day and keeps you regular, so you don’t feel bloated or gassy all day long (which can be uncomfortable). The high-fibre content also helps lower cholesterol levels and reduces inflammation, critical factors in losing weight successfully over time without feeling deprived!
They give you glowing skin!
The vitamins found in many smoothie recipes help improve circulation and heal damaged skin cells, giving your complexion a boost which is why I always recommend adding bananas to your morning shake!”
Smoothies are a great post-workout recovery/muscle repair drink.
They provide the body with easily digestible carbohydrates, protein, and healthy fats to support muscle growth and repair.
Biggest Mistake people make when drinking smoothies.
People think they can replace meals with smoothies, this is never a good idea. Smoothies should be seen as another way of getting nutrients into your system, not replacing meals. When people take supplements they should be taken with meals, supplement means you are supplementing your diet (meals). Smoothies should be treated in the same way as supplements.
Why ready made smoothies are no good.
Here is a photo of ready made smoothies at my local shop
They look very appealing to the eye, they may taste good, but there is no nutrient value in any of them, they’ve all been pasteurized so the goodness has been destroyed many days before they arrived in store, they are essentially flavoured water at best.
People think buying ready made smoothies is saving them time, and it is, but they are wasting money and they are not supplying their bodies with what the product states.
The best option is to make your own, buy fresh fruits and vegtables (organic if possible) and make smoothies when you need them.
Final Thoughts…
